About Birth Support Bendigo Inc.
Birth is a natural event.
Birth Support Bendigo Inc. is a network of people who believe that birth can be a positive, powerful and joyous event in the life of a woman and her family.
Originally formed in 1985 as the Bendigo Homebirth Support Group, the group further evolved to become Birth Support Bendigo in early 1987, reflecting a changing emphasis within the group to promoting active, woman centred birth in the home or hospital.
Our aim of working towards the establishment of a birthing centre was achieved in 1988 when a Family Birth Centre opened in each of Bendigo's two hospitals.
We are an active consumer voice on birthing issues in Central Victoria and have ongoing input into change at a local level.
Birth Support Bendigo remains committed to homebirth being a medically supported option for women who choose it and we are affiliated with a range of other childbirth and parenting groups.
We offer support during pregnancy, birth and beyond, as an information resource for parents and parents-to-be and by sharing our thoughts, feelings and experiences on the journey of parenthood.
